BWRC Coaches

The Black Warrior Rowing Club has very high standards when it comes to coaching and coxing its rowers. This precedent was set by our founding coaches Alison Pollini and Jason Cottingham. Our goal is to continue to offer the highest caliber coaching possible during all of our seasons: Summer, Fall, and Spring.

Our most recent coach is Will Gardner, who was a 2 year member of the Alabama Crew Club while pursuing his degree in Physics. He also rowed with the Charleston Rowing Club and has spent the last 2 years rowing with the BWRC.

As a competitor, he medaled at the Head of the South, South Eastern Regional Collegiate Sprints, Hobbs Island Regatta, and Racer Regatta.

The BWRC was fortunate to have two other other extremely talented coaches from The University of Alabama's women's varsity team and men's Alabama Crew. Kathryn ("Katie") Tippey was our summer 2010 head coach and Hunter Spindle coached for several seasons until graduating from UA.
